Engage's Anonymous Profiling Technology Enhances the Consumer Online Experience - Without Compromising Privacy. Engage is a privacy pioneer and an industry leader in privacy sensitive online profiling and committed to leading the industry to define best practices in this area. We consider the protection of individual privacy to be required for ethical commerce and interaction on the Internet. From day one, we have protected personal privacy. Engage is proud of that. We also believe that targeted marketing is important, helpful to consumers and critical to the growth of the Internet economy.

Engage's anonymous profiling technology can enhance the consumer's online experience without compromising privacy. Engage doesn't collect or store any personally identifiable data, or any data that is considered sensitive or controversial (medical information, adult content, etc). Privacy advocates consider Engage profiles the "high water mark." "Certainly Engage has been a leader in trying to limit the amount of data, particularly individually identifiable data, that can be associated with a cookie," said Jason Catlett, president, Junkbusters.

Daniel Jaye, Engage's co-founder and CTO, along with other industry leaders and consumer advocates, participated in a workshop with the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. The daylong conference centered on issues concerning online profiling and the importance of consumer privacy. Engage and its unique anonymous profiling address many of the concerns being raised.

Engage recently extended our influence on these issues by working with others in the industry to announce a major new initiative: the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI). NAI is a group of 10 third party network advertising providers including, Engage, AdKnowledge, Adsmart, Flycast, AdForce, DoubleClick, and MatchLogic. NAI is committed to increasing consumer confidence and contributing to the growth of the Internet economy. Essentially, the alliance is committed to providing consumers notice and choice. NAI is committed to delivering targeted advertising tailored to consumers' characteristics and preferences. It is also committed to providing consumers with a clear explanation of what data is collected, how it is used, and why this is beneficial to the consumer's online experience. Our goal is to develop a framework for self-regulation of our industry sector.
